Too Much Trouble

Too Much Trouble single artwork — Oli McCracken

Too Much Trouble is a slow-burning, bluesy ballad that looks back on the end of a relationship, when one person is still reaching for something that is already gone. Through small details and understated pleas, the song explores the space between holding on and letting go.

Recorded at Spiritual Records Studios in Camden and Superfly Studios in Ollerton, Too Much Trouble was produced by Jack Trouble. Originally recorded for an acoustic live album, the track is built around a live acoustic take, with the remaining instrumentation added around it to preserve the natural feel of the original performance and give the song room to breathe.

Bio

Oli McCracken is a British-American singer-songwriter based in London. Raised between Chicago and Denver, his music is rooted in Americana and centered on storytelling, character and emotional honesty.

McCracken released his debut EP, From Scratch, in 2016 and spent the years that followed writing, recording and performing around Denver while steadily building his catalogue of music. After more than a decade in Colorado, he moved to London at the end of 2023. The move brought him back to solo performance after several years of playing with a band in Denver and marked the beginning of a new period of writing and recording.

Since the move, McCracken has developed an ongoing recording partnership with producer Jack Trouble at Spiritual Records Studios, beginning with Old Man’s Gun and continuing across much of his recent work. His songs often begin with personal experience but rarely stay literal, using characters, scenes and imagined perspectives to tell stories with an emotional arc. His songwriting and musicianship have grown considerably over the years, but the aim remains much the same: songs that tell a story, avoid easy answers and leave an emotional mark.
